Parliament Committee Approves Names of Nine Cabinet Nominees

The National Assembly Committee on Appointments have approved the names of nine Cabinet nominees who were vetted last week.
The nine nominees were approved after last weekend retreat by the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi-led Committee to deliberate on the vetting report.
The final report will be presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday, when Members of Parliament resume sittings following December Holiday break.
The House Committee grilled the nine appointees during the vetting hearings conducted on Thursday and Friday.
Those who were vetted included; Keriako Tobiko (Environment), Ukur Yattani (Labour), Monica Juma (Foreign Affairs) and Margret Kobia (Youth and Gender).
Others are, Rashid Achesa (Sports), Simon Chelugui(Water), Farida Koroney (Lands), John Munyes(Mining) and Peter Munya (East African Community).
Only Jubilee MPs took part in the vetting of the nominees after those in the opposition boycotted the exercise, citing illegitimacy of President Kenyatta.
