170 MPs Append Signatures on Motion to Impeach Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki

More than 170 Members of Parliament have signed a motion seeking to impeach Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.

This comes a week after the MPs had abandoned the impeachment plans following reported intervention by Deputy President William Ruto.

At least a third of the 349 MPs must append their signatures on the ouster motion for it to meet the Constitutional threshold to sail through.

In a notice of motion tabled by Mandera North MP Bashir Abdullahi, the former Youth and Gender CS is accused of abuse of office and gross misconduct.

The MPs say Kariuki illegally suspended Kenyatta National Hospital Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros following last month brain surgery mix up at the facility. The procedure was performed on a wrong patient.

She also faces accusations of interfering with the hiring process of Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) Chief Executive Officer.

The MPs behind the removal bid have demanded that National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi recuse himself from the matter.

What would these Kalenjin MPigs and their supporters do if the patient was one of their own? They are fighting for Lily Koros who is their own. Next time the patient will be their own son or daughter
