ODM Distances Itself from Zimbabwe Poll Chaos
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has distanced itself from chaos that marred last week's presidential elections in Zimbabwe.
This comes after reports that Zimbabwe police are pursuing ODM leader Raila Odinga's aide Silas Jakakimba over alleged hand in the violence that broke out in the country's capital Harare last week.
Zimbabwe's Sunday Mail reported that police in the country are seeking to question Jakakimba over his role in the poll protests. Violence broke out in Harare after supporters of Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC) candidate Nelson Chamisa marched to the streets to protest election results.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police is keen to interview Silas Jakakimba, a Kenyan national in connection with the disturbances which occurred in Harare on 1 August 2018.”Zimbabwe Police Chief Spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said in a statement.
Jakakimba has since defended himself against claims that he was involved in the planning of the chaos.
"When I left, Harare was normal, folks warm and welcoming, streets busy and skies clear-blue," said Jakakimba adding that Raila sent him to the South African country to deliver his goodwill message to Chamisa at MDC's final public rally at Freedom Square in Harare.
"If you check YouTube footage of the last Harare MDC rally, you will notice Nelson Chamisa informing the mammoth crowd that the alliance is pleased to welcome goodwill message from Hon. Raila Odinga of Kenya, ably represented here by my friend and brother Silas Jakakimba," he added.
Speaking to Daily Nation, ODM Chairman John Mbadi said the party had nothing to do with what happened in Zimbabwe.
“Raila did not run the elections in Zimbabwe. The elections body is responsible for causing unnecessary anxiety by delaying results and being less transparent,” Mbadi was quoted by the Daily Nation on Monday.
Mbadi said Zimbabwe's ruling party, Zanu-PF should have accepted a transparent electoral process instead of blaming the opposition.

ODM, was formed to take over power in Kenya using violence. That was the cornerstone of its formation. Unless, it dissolves and forms another party using new strategies and policies it will always be violent and will always spread violence wherever it goes. If it's ready to make changes, it must start by itself and it's leadership. Otherwise, it will always be defeated and will always use violence. It must first demonstrate fairness in its elections and it's dealings. God help Kenya!!
