Kenyans Online Tear into Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi's Revelations that Her Medical Condition Demands She Only Flies First Class

Revelations by impeached Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi that she can only fly First Class due to her medical condition has left Kenyans online seething.

Speaking on Monday, Elachi said that she suffers from a condition that only demands she uses the luxurious section and flying lower categories would leave her hospitalized.

 “It’s unfortunate that I will have to talk today about my medical condition I have had even in the senate. Because of that medical condition and that is why I never used to travel a lot because of my condition which I do not want to talk about it, but even in the senate they would pay (First Class tickets) because of my condition.”

“It is not because you want prestige no, because even Business Class is prestige. So it is a condition that when I do not (fly First Class), sometimes when you arrive you find yourself being carried by an ambulance,” she added.

Her sentiments triggered reactions among Kenyans on social media, many of them refusing to believe her 'theory.'

Ohta Ryota said: "Elachi should be retired on medical grounds because her employer can not afford to maintain her with her medical condition......that is what MCAs should be petitioning." 

ODM party communications director Philip Etale noted:" What so special with the lady leaders from Jubilee Party... the other day Sen. Millie Omanga said her posterior cannot fit on those seats in the economy class... today, Nrb County Assembly Speaker Beaty E says her medical condition only allows her to travel on Business Class."

@Karanimutonga tweeted: "If law allows Beatrice Elachi to fly Business class and she has a medical condition that requires 1st class, she should have upgraded at her cost. Taxpayers can't fund such luxury. Business class is luxurious enough."

Some Kenyans have no legs and still can't afford 20/= bus fare forced to move on their buttocks with support of arms on hot tarmac roads Our problem is CLASS difference not TRIBALISM."
