Fake Gold Scam: Senator Moses Wetang'ula Speaks Out

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula has spoken out for the first time since his name was mentioned in the fake gold scam.

Earlier media reports indicated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had summoned Wetang'ula on Wednesday for questioning over his role in the fake gold business.

Speaking during a media briefing in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Ford Kenya party leader denied he had been summoned to DCI headquarters.

While responding to questions by reporters, the politician termed the fake gold saga as a "non-issue" and refused to give further comments on the matter.

"I am not aware of what you are talking about, it is a non-issue to me and I don't want to engage in it," Wetang'ula stated.

"From my itinerary, I am going to console with the family of Fredrick Oduya Oprong, then I'll be at a committee meeting in the Senate and in the afternoon I'll be in the plenary debating issues of national interest," added Wetang'ula.

Prodded to give a comment on the illegal gold trade, Senator Wetang'ula noted: “I’ve just told you it’s a non-issue and I don’t want to engage in non-issues.”

Last week, DCI boss George Kinoti said Wetang'ula was a person of interest in the con scheme and was lined up for grilling.

“He is a person of interest and we shall be interrogating him and all others mentioned to determine their degree of involvement,” said Kinoti.

Top Kenyan politicians, businesspeople, and judicial officers are being investigated over the scam where unsuspecting buyers including foreigners have reportedly lost millions of shillings.

Shamelessly corrupt. Non-issue? Why then are you on phone with Arab royalty Emirates rep talking stolen gold? The guy is heard telling you that " Moses, we gave you the money--- who has the gold now?" You're are on the phone telling this guy that Raila is meeting the head of state (Uhuru) regarding the gold. You're heard saying the gold is in the custody of Matiang (cabinet secretary) what do you mean non issue. This is a crisis. A lot of Kenyans do legit business with Dubai and this inter-state confrontation could put all that into jeopardy. You and Raila should be immediately arrested for interrogation regarding your gold criminal activities. Arab Emirates may decide to cut all connections with Kenya due to this corruption, theft and robbery by you and your cohorts-and that is bad for business.

This should cost him some votes. When you refuse to answer questions that the public deem of interest, you are abrogating your responsibility to the public who elected you. Let them decide what is a non issue.
I really dont understand how the likes of you get elected...

The whole Kenyan government and political class is rotten. This is so mainly because Kenyan electorate has been brainwashed regardless of their educational level. Since independence Kenyan presidents and politicians have been perpetuating tribal politics of divide and rule. This is still being fostered by Kenyatta, Raila, and Ruto. Having said that, I think if Uhuru and Raila really wanted to make meaningful change to anything in Kenya they could easily do so. They have power, authority and members in parliament to make it happen. The only thing they don’t have is the will to do it! How come anyone within Kenyatta or Raila has never tabled any legislation in parliament to tame corruption? It’s because they are eating together in private while preaching water to the poor public! I’m not mentioning Ruto because his name has now been forever associated with graft and now he’s running around in churches with the loot to appease the devil!

These two, Raila and Uhuru could easily pass stringent laws that prohibit corruption and hand mandatory long jail time to offenders and confiscate anything they took plus interest. This notion that if you successfully steal ten billion then you can pay one billion fine to avoid jail time is so stupid to say the least. Never in my lifetime have I seen anybody with money get jail time in Kenyan judicial system. Only poor people are languishing in Kenyan jails, many of them are actually innocent but there due to a rotten judicial system. In a country like Kenya a change can only happen if we have a strong leader with a big stick that hit at everyone who is blatantly guilty of corruption. We can neither rely on judiciary nor churches, they are all choking on corruption! And politicians are purely after getting rich on taxpayers money, what a shame! Even the so called MCAs want to be rich so fast they are desperately armtwisting one another in the process.

Every now and then the government want to come up with some new item to hoodwink the public that they are doing something...Huduma Namba, numerous referenda, new passports, among other stupid ideas not even worth my mentioning! All these things will never bring any change to Wanjiku, we’ve seen these ever since I was a child! Similar to Uhuru’s tough-talk.
Besides politicians who are eating together, everybody else is just confused either because they are hungry or because the tribal system has caught up with their thinking process!
My message would be meaningless if I don’t offer my take on the solution:

1. Assume all members of parliament are corrupt therefore need to go ASAP
2. Assume every member of the judiciary is corrupt and need to go ASAP
3. We need an Arab-Spring event to sweep all these people out! Forget elections, it will never give any results since they control that too! It’s already rigged even before it starts.
4. Once everyone of these is out, a transitional government for the people can be installed while stringent constitution is drafted. A people-based constitution, not system based.
5. Once the constitution is drafted, we will need an educational system that teaches integrity from childhood and merit based appointments. We would also then elect an iron-fist ruler with people at heart. This is the only way to rally anything Kenyan. It was done in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea etc. and they are ripping the benefits. In those countries if you are caught in corruption, you are either hanged or go to jail for life and all the loot is collected! That’s my take.

I wish Kenyans would one day wake up and once and for all put Bogus politicians like Wetangula out of office for good. But nikisema hivyo, waBukusu wateta. The guy's head seems to be stuck somewhere deep down his sitting apparatus! SMH MULIKA MWIZI KABISA!

Kenya has a lot of thieves as leaders. Watengula, Raila, and all those involved in corruption just know your days are numbered by the "Most High". Corruption creates miseries for our people. There is a new world order coming; that of spirituality and its coming fast and cannot be stopped. Those who delight in corruption, sword-gun and death will be last and are slowly being revealed.
It will be interesting to watch those who pride themselves in the misery of the majority. Saying its "non-issue" does not make it so. A thieve is always a thieve.
