Bob Collymore to be Buried on Tuesday in a Private Ceremony

Safaricom has announced that CEO Bob Collymore, who passed away on Monday morning, will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
In a media briefing on Monday, Safaricom Board Chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a said only the deceased’s family members will be allowed to attend the ceremony.
Ng’ang’a did not give details on where and the time the burial ceremony will take place. He said a public memorial service will be held in honor of Collymore later this week.
“There will be a private interment process tomorrow but, later on in the week, hopefully, Thursday or Friday, there will be a memorial service for all those who knew and cared for Bob,” said Ng’ang’a.
“We (Board) are still coming to grips with what has happened but we’re clear that the company is in good hands and will continue to offer all the services that it’s been offering."
The telecommunications company said Collymore, 61, succumbed to cancer at his home in Nairobi.
Collymore is survived by his wife Wambui Kamiru and four children.

R.I.P Bob - kweli cancer is brutal, just the other day he was giving news conference. Condolences to his young wife and family... But that is how it is done - only family and friend and bury fast - no wananchi ceremonies

This business of making funerals drawn out, feasting and money minting affairs needs to stop. I was almost eaten alive by distant relatives when I suggested no food be served at a close relative's funeral to keep costs down. Between daily food consumption, payments to choir members, MCs, videographers, caterers, security, we were left with a list of bills to settle. Adding insult to injury, a church leader came the day after the funeral to help herself with the deceased wheelchair since "we no longer needed it"
