Family Dismisses Rumors that Raila is in Poor Health

The family of ODM party leader Raila Odinga has dismissed rumors that his health condition has deteriorated after he was discharged from the Nairobi Hospital on March 14th.

His sister Ruth Odinga termed the rumors as untrue, saying that Raila is strong and recovering well from COVID at home under the care of his wife and daughter.

She also shared photos of herself spending time with her brother at his Karen residence over the weekend.

“Raila is generally doing well. Do not involve yourselves in acts of speculation. Let people pray for him to recover and finish his quarantine period,” Ruth told journalists.

Ruth said Raila spends most of his time walking around the compound and basking in the sun. “He takes turns to sit outside his room for fresh air, sometimes basking in the sun,” she added.

She was responding to reports claiming that Odinga had been readmitted to the hospital for COVID-19 treatment.

Raila was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 11th following a test conducted at the Nairobi Hospital.

In the past four months, four members of the Odinga family have tested positive for the virus, including Ruth, who has since recovered.
