Daring Thugs Rob Senior Police Officer of His Firearm at Gunpoint in Mombasa

Police in Mombasa are in hot pursuit of daring thugs who robbed a senior police officer of his firearm.

Urban Sub-County police commander George Kingi Bamba was robbed of his pistol at Kizingo area in Mombasa on Monday night.

The officer was driving home at around 10:30 pm when he found a tuk-tuk parked in the middle of the road near his official residence.

He stopped his vehicle and alighted to find out what was going on, only for two armed men to emerge from the tuk-tuk and ordered him to surrender.

They held the officer at gunpoint and robbed him of his Jericho pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition before retreating to the tuk-tuk and drove off.

Kingi’s attempts to raise an alarm were futile as the thugs managed to escape.

Confirming the incident, Coast Regional Police Commander Manase Musyoka appealed to members of the public to volunteer information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the firearm.

“It is an unfortunate incident and our plea is that we are looking for that firearm and we appeal to members of the public that should anyone have any information that would help us get this firearm it will be appreciated. We have already set aside a good token to give as an appreciation,” he said.
