DCI Director George Kinoti Sentenced to Four Months in Prison

A Nairobi court has sentenced the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti to four months in prison for contempt.

In a ruling on Thursday, High Court Judge Anthony Murima directed Inspector-General of Police Hilary Mutyambai to ensure Kinoti is arrested and taken to prison to serve the sentence.

Kinoti was handed the sentence for failing to execute a court order to surrender firearms seized from businessman Jimi Wanjigi.

“In the event, Kinoti fails to avail himself as ordered, a warrant of arrest will be issued against him. The warrant of arrest will be forthwith executed by the IG. In the further event that the IG fails to execute the warrant of arrest the same shall remain valid and be executed at any time including when Kinoti leaves office,” the judge ordered.

The firearms were confiscated in October 2017 after detectives raided Wanjigi’s residence in Muthaiga, Luedecke & Co. Ltd offices at Uganda House, and Armame Kenya Ltd situated at Utalii House in Nairobi.

In 2020, Wanjigi filed a contempt of court case against Kinoti after he failed to return the firearms as directed in a past court ruling.

The DCI maintains that some of the guns seized from the billionaire are high-tech and should not be in the hand of a civilian. The agency also argues that Wanjigi lacks legal clearance to have some of the weapons.

The firearms in question include a Smith and a Wesson pistol, a mini Archer assault rifle, a Glock pistol, and an M4CQ assault rifle.

Revolution is the only method of taming corruption in Kenya. The illegal 15% commission paid to Majambazi Wanjigi and Murathe on behalf of selected ELITE++ gangsters led by Uhuru was called MY10% during muuaji Kamau’s and part of muuaji Moi’s era.It landed many to jail like expired jambazi Chimechero.Wanjigi’s illegal military guns should be tested on his head. The same head can also be used to train target range using the said guns.

This buffoon ain't about to go to no prison.
In a banana republic those in positions of power are "above the law" They abuse our constitution with impunity. And it's not Kinot alone. Majority of those in government offices are greedy corrupt idiots who have contempt for the wananchi they are supposed to serve. I went to Murangá land office. I was appalled! Regular Wanjiku is tired and frustrated, dozing on the bench for hours waiting to be served. Meanwhile, those hired to help are sitting in their offices upstairs taking bribes through Mpesa helping brokers and rich folks who are not even in the building. Wananchi with pressing land issues make three or four visits for a problem that requires 20 minutes to resolve. The people you have hired through your taxes to work for you will not help you until you give them kitu kidogo!

I have said it a million times and I say it again. We (Wanjikus) are the problem and not our leaders. We have given them all the powers, we fight for them when they are accused of corruption simply because they belong to my tribe. We can end this cycle of corruption if we come together, join our hearts and work together as brothers. We have the power.

The rot in the judiciary stinks to high heavens. How do you allow an individual to have all those guns illegally? Kwani yeye ni nani?

Yes there is rot in judiciary. But in ths case there is more rot in the government official of Mr. Kinoti. The court has ascertained the legal ownership of the guns and has further directed they should be returned to the owner. Who the hell is this idiot to defy court orders?
