How the Late Chris Kirubi Distributed His Multi-Billion-Shilling Estate

Details about how the late Kenyan businessman Chris Kirubi distributed his multi-billion-shilling estate have emerged.

Kirubi whose wealth is estimated at Sh20 billion left 80 percent of the estate to his son Robert Kirubi and daughter Mary Anne Kirubi, but the two have mutually agreed to give 9.95 percent of their shares to their sister Fiona Wambui Kirubi, who was bequeathed only Sh4 million in the will.

“We shall be grateful if you would record the following consent in the above matter. That an order be recorded that Fiona Wambui Kirubi shall receive 9.95 percent of the share of Robert Kirubi’s and Mary-Anne’s Kirubi’s portion of the estate being 80 percent of the entire estate,” their legal consent reads in part.

The deceased businessman gave the remaining 20 percent of his wealth to his siblings; Anthony Maina, Dr. Michael Kirubi, Elizabeth Waithera, and Salome Mburu.

Court records show that Kirubi owned at least six luxury vehicles worth a combined Sh108 million, including Mercedes Benz Maybach S500 (Sh29 million), Bentley GT (Sh28 million), and a Range Rover (Sh25. 6 million).

The business magnate also owned land worth more than Sh3 billion in Loresho (Sh2 billion), Kwale (Sh111 million), and two other properties in Muthaiga and Mtwapa worth Sh60 million.

Kirubi held shares in several companies among them KCB (Sh1.6 billion), Haco Industries (Sh801 million), Bendor Estate Limited (Sh5.6 billion), Smart Applications International Limited (Sh641 million), Two Rivers Development (Sh214 million), and Bayer East Africa (Sh1.8 billion). Other shares are in Kenya Re, Kenya Airways, Mumias Sugar Company, and Diamond Trust.

Further to these, the industrialist had two ban accounts holding Sh3 billion and Sh177 million respectively.

Kirubi, 80, died on June 14th, 2021 after a long battle with cancer that saw him seek treatment in the United States and locally. He was a renowned investor, industrialist, and entrepreneur with interests in manufacturing, media, real estate, insurance, and investment.

One thing I admire about wealthy Americans is they are charitable. They leave a portion of their wealth to the needy. Chris could have left a portion of his wealth to those in need. One billion shillings could help a lot of families in Kenya. Rest In Peace

How do you justify a law to mandate rich give to the poor? I like your ambition but you are overreaching. Charity comes from the heart and not forced. Maybe a higher tax rate for the wealthy and use the monies to provide subsidies for the poor. Sounds like a dream ha!

She may have a prodigal daughter of some sorts - wasteful in nature! Kirubi like to invest and keep accountability! And you also give based on the ability to manage the gift!

Like 99% of Kenya’s so-called billionaires, all expired Kîrūbî’s “wealth” was looted from hungry billionaire Kenyans. There are a few honest billionaires like Kahara Mūnga and late Njoroge Mūgūkū.Others led by expired wauaji Kamau,Moi,Biwort,Nyachai,Kirubi or kina Raila,Uhuru,Wanjigi,Ruto,Pattine etc were/are blood thirsty looters whose property must be forcefully seized.

The two kins to the lazy Kirubi daughter felt the mtoto mposefu needed to get shs 10 billion the father refused to award her! Why I don’t know.

She will waste that money because she doesn’t know how to manage the money! She should marry the lost and broke Moi’s grandson to help her burn shs 10 billion just like he lit billions himself! Inherited money is a curse to those who don’t deserve it.

Kirubi has all the reasons not to have left his daughter inheritance money. Which fancy car is she going to get? The Maserati?

I think he should have given some to the people who helped him to earn the billions. Or Leave strict warning of not firing them

All of us know that one day we are leaving this world. It's okay and great to be rich, the issue is being addicted to it. I BELIEVE in doing something positive with our wealth. You see, we are born naked and we are buried with nothing. It doesn't matter how expensive the casket is or how many limousines accompany your dead body. You still get back butt naked.
I will give him one for at least having a will.
