Wetang'ula Denies Reports of Ditching Kenya Kwanza Alliance for Raila's Azimio

Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has dismissed reports that he is quitting the Kenya Kwanza alliance for Azimio La Umoja.

Reports on social media on Friday morning claimed that Wetang’ula was holed up in a meeting with the Azimio La Umoja presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga in Karen ahead of his defection.

But Wetang’ula, the senator of Bungoma, affirmed that he is in the alliance to stay, saying Kenya Kwanza is a valid dream and hope for Kenya.

"Have (sic) had a busy moment at Ford Kenya party HQS receiving, advising, and encouraging our candidates in preparation for party primaries. Kenya kwanza is the valid dream and hope for Kenya," he posted on his official Twitter account.

The senator is one of the Kenya Kwanza alliance principals alongside Deputy President William Ruto and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka had earlier in the week indicated that he was having informal talks with Wetang’ula in a bid to convince him to decamp to Azimio.

"Wetangula is my friend and brother. We have suffered together under NASA. We have not formally engaged. If we do, it will be a very good thing. We talk with him on the telephone and I will take up the talks," Kalonzo told NTV.

“I pray every night for Wetangula to leave Kenya Kwanza and join Azimio La Umoja.”

But in response to Kalonzo, Wetang’ula insisted that he is happy in Kenya Kwanza and exuded confidence that the coalition will win the August 9th elections and form the next government.

If Weta listens to Atwoli, most of the country might start taking his seriously. According to Atwoli, "it is simble, simble, join Azimio"
