I'm Tired of Faking It: Sarah Kabu Reveals Why She is Divorcing Bonfire CEO Simon Kabu

Businesswoman Sarah Kabu says she wants to divorce her husband of 12 years Simon Kabu after their marriage became rocky.
Sarah, who co-founded Bonfire Adventures with her husband, said she has not been comfortable in her marriage and is tired of faking things for it to appear like everything is well.
"We have been discussing that we need to separate since I have not been comfortable with this marriage and I am tired of faking so we were in discussion. I wanted a peaceful separation and co-parenting and so on," Sarah said in an interview with YouTuber Christina Lewis.
She added: "Even if my marriage is not working, I believe in marriages because I have seen them work. Sometimes you can lie until you lie to yourself. You could find that you're crying or going through a difficult time but you have to smile for the cameras and assume things are okay. You can lie, but you cannot lie forever.”
Sarah claims her husband’s two baby mamas are to blame for their impending divorce, saying the two have been interfering with her marriage, something she is tired of.
"70% of my marriage life with Simon has been blissful and we have had our good time. We have also had our bad times which we don't show people. I reached a point where I said enough is enough since some people looked up to me, they were inspired by our online story but I wished I had a humble life with love and peace of mind," she said.
She lamented that most of their earnings from Bonfire Adventures, one of the leading tours and travel companies in Kenya, benefitted people outside their family even though they have toiled together.
"You try to build your empire and then the money goes to support his blood. To me, they are not part of me. There is nothing we can do about it. I take it as a charity project. It has not been a big deal since I have been on the journey by even guiding him to some of the good schools he can take them. But for me, he should carry his own cross," Sarah added.

Well.well, is there anything new here? This marriage institution unfortunately has no graduation date. There are a few options available for you if you cannot manage it :
1. Croak
2. drop out( divorce)
3. Walk away( marriage in absentia)
4. Hang in( live in misery)
5. Elimination (make your spouse disappear) not recommended.
6. Have two marriages.
As much as we would love marriages to end in matrimonial bliss, the reality says otherwise. Even people of the Good Book have tried to stop separation by saying,:what God put together man shall not put asunder...something to that effect" And have harmed this home by ..."till death do us apart" Non seen to help, especially these days.
So what is the problem? In my humble opinion, nothing is wrong with the institution, but the participants. This institution is not for everybody.
In addition, it is an old model, that does not fit in today's society. We need a new model.I suggest we marry on contract. After 5 years,of blissful living, you renew for 5 more years. And if you caught hell for 5 years, you terminate the contract. After all marriage nowdays is a transactional relationship...What say you people?

No one can foretell when they’ll fall out of love. You enter marriage for the sole purpose of life commitment. But if it last for two weeks or till death let us part, so be it. Its illogical to suggest a 5 year term then up for renewal, what qbout the kids? If any were sired in that period? Can you imagine the mental torture to a child who is left thinking whether his parents will break up aka not ‘renew’ their contract after 5 years? There are prenups after all, for those slow to trust and thinking everyone is hooking up for ulterior motives. And yes, divorce is an option that has existed time immemorial. Don’t overthink so much on this institution for those who are truly in love and derive meaning from it.

What about the Kids you ask? Nothing changes. If you are happy you continue renewing. If you fail kids will be in the same situation as what happens now days. My suggestion of contract does not absolve the two parties of responsibility to kids.Remember divorced or not, you have to take care of your kids.
My 5 year contract is just asuggestion since body has an option that seems to work. In USA divorce rate is about 50%,and has been that way for a few years. Kenya may no be that far off.

@ Waciuri, I also find you response illogical.
1. Kids will go through trauma if the relationship between mom,and pop is unhealth, and toxic. It does not matter whether there is a contract or not...In fact, so called experts advice against children to live under those conditions. The corollary is that happy children will not worry about'renewal'...or lack of it. Remember we are talking about when things have reached the end zone-mom and pop might kill each other if they continue living in the same" tabernacle".
2 What do prenups have anything to do with the topic at hand?In other words what has it go to do with success or failure of marriage? Its only relevant at the end... check out time.
One thing we can agree on is that whether marriages continue to exists in its current form or change, men and women will continues to have discourse, and intercourse in addition forging unions that would guarantee, and ensure the continuation of the human animal on the planet.

I agree with@Maxilley.If your marriage is ok, you have nothing to worry .And you can always care for children even if you are out of the marriage. If you care, and are responsible for your children, it does not matter whether you are divorced or not.

@ Tony if you are so concerned about the trauma children would go through then dont have them, and if you have them dont get divorced. remember majority of divorces are filed by women. So you may want to stick it out ,but she may want out.

No Iam not contradicting myself. See contracts will eliminate running for divorce before time. All you have to do is wait for the contract to end and not renew it. In fact " divorce " will not exist. Renewing contract would be the applicable term.

Women like men in control.Men who dominate. Men who are not scared. And having abig bank account helps them swam over you... They get bored very quickly when they entangle with a lesser man,and that explains why 75% of divorces are instigated by women.
Men need to retrace their foot prints up to where they deviated from being real men...otherwise they will always take the short end of the stick.

Marriages that are founded on a foreign cultural and religious foundation are bound to fail in the long run. Today’s marriages are founded on looks, wealth, and European’s cultural “worldview.” That’s why 50% of their marriages end up in divorce. If your marriage is based on good looks, guess what happens when one becomes old? If on the other hand one becomes broke as a result of loss of the sources of income?
As long as we continue following and aping irrational Europeans based fake marriage constructs, our divorces will continue to occur until we get the wisdom and find better and long lasting marriage foundations that are based on rational human based realistic constructs.
