Martha Karua Steals the Show at National Prayer Breakfast

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition presidential running mate Martha Karua delivered a powerful speech at the National Prayer Breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel on Thursday.

Deputy President William Ruto broke protocol and invited Karua to speak on behalf of Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga, who did not attend the annual event.

In her brief address, Karua challenged political leaders to match their actions with his words and urged them to set a stable tone for the country during campaigns ahead of the August 9th elections.

“We have heard the message from the clergy, and we remember that our constitution acknowledges the supremacy of God… We pray that after these prayers, moving forward, that our actions match our words. Especially us leaders, even as we compete, we compete with ideas not insults, that we lessen the tension in the nation by the way we interact with one another,” said Karua.

The Nark-Kenya party leader further called for campaigns based on ideas and not petty rivalry in order to ensure a peaceful election and smooth transition of power come August.

“None of us is perfect, we pray for God’s grace so that we can be able to lead the nation to value-driven campaigns and leadership,” she said.

“The Bible says that prayer without action is not real, so how I pray that our prayers are matched by our actions. If we do that, we definitely will have peaceful elections, a peaceful transition and a nation that stands together.”

This year’s prayer breakfast was hosted by Parliament under the theme ‘Transitions’.

William is just admiring the intellect in Martha Karua’s impromptu speech. He is wondering how Raila beat him in picking a perfect DP running mate.

Sorry Ruto you just happened to pick another thief.

Hey Ruto just ask Kenyans for forgiveness for picking Rikathi for your deputy. He will make you lose… how do you pick a guy with a questionable character and a mere DO?

Martha speaks her mind all the time. If speaking her mind results in stealing the show then she is going to be stealing the show everyday. Woe unto the thieves and their supporters like Asista in UDA.
