ODM Pledges Candidates for All Positions in 2027 Elections

ODM party has announced that it plans to field candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Kisumu County on Tuesday, ODM party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga firmly dispelled notions that the party lacks ambition in contesting for the nation's highest office. Wanga emphasizes ODM's commitment to fielding candidates across all elective positions, from Members of the County Assembly to the presidency. Governor Wanga expresses confidence in ODM's potential to secure the presidency in the 2027 elections.

“In the coming elections, we hope that our party will sweep seats starting from MCA, MPS, Senators, Governors and we are not going to leave any seat including the presidency, ODM is moving forward,” Wanga revealed.

She articulates the party's comprehensive strategy to contest every seat and reiterates their determination to maintain and expand their political influence throughout Kenya. The appointment of Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o as the interim party leader has been met with approval within ODM ranks. Nyong'o, a founding member and original Secretary General of the party, is regarded as an experienced and capable leader well-suited to guide ODM during Raila Odinga's campaign for the AUC chairmanship.

Wanga publicly endorsed Nyong'o, praising his extensive experience and capacity to steer the party through this transitional period. This leadership transition comes as ODM prepares for the 2027 elections while navigating the potential absence of its long-standing leader Raila Odinga. The party has implemented several structural changes, including the appointment of new deputy party leaders and the confirmation of Gladys Wanga as party chairperson.

Nyong'o recently emphasized ODM's destiny to lead the nation and further mentioned the critical importance of unity within the party ranks. Nyong'o asserted that ODM's strength lies in its collective resolve, stating that the party would remain committed to its mission as long as its members stand united. He pledged that ODM would continue to serve the interests of Kenyans, provided the populace maintains their faith in the party.
