One person has been confirmed dead after fire razed down a night club, Casuarina owned by Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

Reports indicate that the inferno started at around midnight and completely consumed Sonko's restaurant, which is located in Buruburu estate in Nairobi.

The cause of the fire was yet to be established. However, there are speculations that the attack was carried out by the former Senator's rivals, who are frustrated by his new efforts to fight cartels at City Hall.

Confirming the incident, Governor Sonko posted images of the hotel on fire on Facebook post and mourned the deceased worker.

"I serve a very faithful God. My God never lets me down. RIP Kilunda," Sonko stated.

Nothing was salvaged from the restaurant despite the quick response by the Nairobi County government firefighters.

The deceased was a worker at the hotel and his body has since been moved to the mortuary as police investigations launch investigations into the incident.
