Let Me Help You Become President in 2022, Raila Asks Deputy President William Ruto
Opposition leader Raila Odinga now claims that Deputy President William Ruto cannot succeed President Kenyatta in 2022 without his help.
Speaking in Kipkelion, Kericho county on Thursday, the National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader said that Ruto will need his influence if he is to occupy State House in 2022.
“Does Ruto think he can be a President without Raila?”Odinga posed at Kedowa, Kipkelion East. “I can help him get there if he wants,” he added.
Odinga, who attended the burial ceremony of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman for Kipkelion East William Koech, said Ruto’s quest for the country's top political seat can only be a reality if the Kalenjin community worked with him [Raila] like they did in 2007.
However, in a rejoinder to Odinga’s remarks, Deputy President Ruto's spokesperson David Mugonyi said his boss' focus is on delivering Jubilee's agenda.
“We thought Raila had an agreement with Kalonzo Musyoka in 2022,” Mugonyi said in a statement.
He continued: “For us, our concern right now is to deliver to Kenyans and not 2022 politics.”
