Miguna Miguna Launches Fresh Bid for Return Trip to Kenya

Opposition politician Miguna Miguna has moved to court seeking to have the government ordered to grant him entry into the country.

In a case lodged on Friday, Miguna pleads with the court to issue fresh orders to the State asking it to grant him unconditional entry into Kenya.

This come two days after the embattled lawyer cancelled his trip to Kenya on Wednesday, citing refusal by the Immigration Department to issue him with a Kenyan passport as earlier directed by the court.

In the application, the former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant wants the court to order the State to surrender his perforated Kenyan passport to the Kenya National Commission Human Rights(KNCHR).

Through his attorney John Khaminwa, Miguna says the human rights body would then present the document to him at the Immigration desk on the day he decides to return to Kenya.

He further accuses the State, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Immigration Department of disregarding court orders.

“The Government is deliberately seeking and acting to impede and obstruct the ability of the court to administer justice effectively or at all to hear and determine the petition expeditiously,” reads the petition that was filed at the Milimani Law Court.
