“Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin Passes away at the Age of 76

American singer and songwriter Aretha Franklin, famously known as “The Queen of Soul”, has passed on.
Franklin passed away on Thursday at the age of 76. It was reported last week that she had been admitted in hospice care suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer.

She has won a total of 18 Grammy awards in her singing career, and has sold over 75 million records worldwide - becoming one of the belling musical artists of all time. She began singing at the age of four in Detroit, Michigan.

Franklin has received several honorary degrees, including from Havard University, Princeton University, Yale University, Brown University, and Berklee College of Music.

She leaves behind four children.
