Kenya’s Angama Mara has been named as the world’s best safari lodge for year 2017 by a United States travel Magazine.
Jetsetter, a magazine linked to the TripAdvisor travel portal, placed Angama Mara at the top of its listing of ‘The World’s Most Spectacular Safaris.’
The prestigious lodge situated on the western part of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve was the only Kenyan facility that entered Jetsetter’s annual listing. Its location gives visitors a perfect view of the annual wildebeest migration between Kenya and Tanzania.
Angama defeated 10 other world famous safari lodges among them Wilderness Safaris Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp of Namibia and India’s Jawai Leopard camp, which occupied second and third places respectively.
Virunga lodge of Rwanda took fourth place, while Australia’s Arkaba’s homestead and Zambia’s Chinzobo camp occupied the fifth and sixth positions respectively.
Nepal's Meghauli Serai lodge came in seventh, while Sandibe Okavango Lodge in Botswana, Singita Gurumeti Serengeti House in Tanzania, Thailand’s Anantara Resort Golden Triangle and South Africa’s Nelson Mandela Centre for Reconciliation Villa took the last four positions in that order.
