Kenya's giant mobile service provider Safaricom has announced a major disruption of its key services to pave way for system maintenance.
The system upgrade will see some of its crucial services including; airtime top up, Okoa Jahazi, airtime and data transfer, internet data and SMS bundle purchases, Tunukiwa, international calls and SMS unavailable for several hours.
“To maintain service excellence, Safaricom will on Wednesday, March 28, from 9pm to Thursday, March 2018, 12.30am carry out a planned system maintenance,” The firm’s Strategy and Innovation Director Joseph Ogutu said in a statement on Monday.
The maintenance will allow the telecommunications firm to improve the services for its over 29 million customers in Kenya.
However, other services namely; voice, data, M-pesa and SMS will remain available.
"Other services including voice data, Mpesa and SMS will remain available," Ogutu said.
