The Nairobi County Government on Thursday netted a record daily revenue of Sh120 million through the online Jambo Pay system.
Governor Mike Sonko said his administration has set a target of collecting Sh1.6 billion in revenue by the end of March. He noted that the cashless payment system had seen the daily and monthly revenue collection rise drastically.
"We have sealed all corruption loopholes. All unscrupulous traders and rogue county staff who think they will survive on corruption have been put on notice. We are here to serve Nairobians," he said.
In January, County Hall collected a record Sh1.6 billion and Sh1.4 billion the following month.
"I'm really impressed and I have no words on how to express myself, by the support and confidence Nairobi tax payers have accorded to my administration," Sonko said in a Facebook post on Friday.
"Kila siku Kila Mwezi Revenue inaenda juu, Juzi Shillingi milioni 106,then Sh107m jana milioni 120m. January sh1.6bn, Feb sh 1.4bn na March tumefika sh1.47bn it is unbelievable," He added.
Taxation without services is robbery.Ati floods and impassable roads are what we see after boosting of record tax corrections.Ok Sonko has sealed the loopholes. Can he describe what a drug business is if it is not corruption multiplied?
