A South African national living in Kenya has become the latest winner of a multi-million shilling apartment in the Safaricom's MpesaTu promotion.
49-year-old Eric Lindenberg was handed keys to the Sh7.8million house located in Nairobi, becoming the second Mpesa user to win an apartment in the ongoing promotion.
“We are happy to see that the promotion winners reflect the diversity of M-PESA, which is a testament that it indeed is a mobile money service that brings the entire Kenyan society together. The promotion will continue for the next five weeks during which we will seek to reward even more of our customers for their loyalty,” said Jannet Atika, Safaricom’s Director of Customer Operations.
The apartments to be awarded in the promotion are located in Kahawa West off Thika Road and the Eastern Bypass. Five other houses are up for grabs in coming weeks.
Mr. Lindenberg, a global interior design consultant, moved to Kenya in 2012 to join his wife and two children.
“I found the country undergoing exciting times amidst fast growth and a lot of development, which saw me make the decision to join my family here in Kenya.
“From my first days, I have come to prefer MPesa for most of my transactions ….. It was a pleasant surprise when I received the call from Safaricom on Tuesday notifying me that I had won an apartment,” Mr. Lindenberg said.
James Njagi, an artisan from Gikomba Market was the first winner of an apartment in the promotion that was launched four weeks ago.
To win a local promo one SHOULD be local. Why should a foreigner come and enjoy that which is ours?
