60 NYS Graduates Secure Fabrication Jobs in Dubai

Sixty Kenyan graduates from the National Youth Service (NYS) are poised to elevate their technical careers in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following the announcement of fabrication-focused job opportunities.
This initiative provides a significant pathway for skilled Kenyan tradespeople to gain international work experience within a dynamic industrial hub. The NYS officially announced the recruitment drive, emphasising that successful candidates must demonstrate proficient written and spoken English skills. A leading Dubai-based fabrication firm specialising in steel, structural, and industrial fabrication, ship repair, and rigging, will employ the recruits.
This development represents a crucial step in Kenya's ongoing efforts to align vocational training programs with global employment demands. To qualify for the positions, applicants must possess a diploma or trade certificate in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related discipline. Crucially, candidates must have completed coursework in welding and fabrication, mechanical engineering (production), or any metal fabrication discipline.
Fluent English is a mandatory requirement, essential for effective communication within a diverse, international workforce and the accurate interpretation of technical blueprints. The NYS is committed to expediting passport acquisition for selected candidates without valid travel documentation. The initial employment contract is for a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal, offering successful candidates both stability and prospects for professional growth.
The fabricator roles demand proficiency in a wide range of techniques. These include interpreting technical blueprints, cutting and shaping steel bars, reinforcing concrete structures, and collaborating with engineers to optimise designs. Rigorous documentation adhering to international standards will be an integral part of the job.
The compensation package includes a basic monthly salary of approximately Ksh51,087 (AED 1,250), supplemented by a food allowance of AED 350 (Ksh12,367). The employer will also fully cover accommodation, transportation, uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPEs), medical insurance, and liability coverage.
Furthermore, employees will be entitled to a round-trip economy class ticket between Kenya and the UAE every two years, with initial flight expenses covered by the recruitment agent.
The company will also sponsor employment visas, residence permits, and all other legal documentation required for legal employment in the UAE. The standard work schedule is an eight-hour shift, six days a week, with an annual 30-day leave period. Additional benefits, including overtime pay, leave allowances, and end-of-service gratuity, will be distributed in accordance with UAE labour laws.
Since its establishment in 1964, the NYS has been instrumental in equipping young Kenyans with the technical skills necessary for career advancement and national service.
Originally conceived to resettle and empower youth in the aftermath of Kenya's independence struggle, the organisation has evolved into a vital institution that facilitates pathways to skill-based employment, both within Kenya and internationally. Over the years, the NYS has intensified its commitment to connecting graduates with sustainable career prospects. According to NYS, the organisation remains deeply committed to linking its graduates with promising career trajectories.
Candidates seeking these positions must apply via an online portal, where detailed submission guidelines and eligibility requirements are available for review. The application deadline is Monday, June 9, 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in practical assessments at the NYS Engineering Institute on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
These assessments are designed to comprehensively evaluate technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and the practical application of fabrication techniques. Upon arrival in Dubai, recruits will undergo a 90-day probationary period, during which they will acclimate to the specific demands of the job and company policies.
