Six people were on Monday seriously injured in an accident that involved a 14-seater matatu and a police vehicle clearing way for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s convoy in Kisii County.
A traffic vehicle clearing the road for the head of state's motorcade rammed a14-seater matatu making a U-turn at a sharp corner near Mt Kenya University, Kisii branch in the Gesonso area along the Kisii-Migori road.
President Uhuru and other Jubilee leaders were coming from Gusii Stadium, where they had addressed a rally minutes earlier. Uhuru was forced to come out of his car as some of his security officers rescued the victims. The President's official ambulance was used to carry the injured to Kisii Referral Hospital.
Kisii central Deputy Base Commander and another traffic officers are among those injured in the accident.
