IEBC Welcomes Supreme Court Verdict

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has welcomed the unanimous decision by the Supreme Court, which upheld the October 26th repeat presidential elections.

In a statement following the ruling, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said the Supreme Court’s decision affirms IEBC's commitment to holding a free and fair election.

“The unanimous determination by the honorable court affirms our resolve and deliberate efforts to conduct, free, fair and credible elections. We wait the reasoned judgment to inform our post-election evaluation that is about to commence; as well as initiatives focused on developing our institution and enhancing electoral democracy,” read the statement from IEBC.

In its unanimous decision read by Chief Justice David Maraga, the court dismissed the two petitions challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election, noting that they lacked merit.

“Having carefully considered the above issues, the specific prayers in every petition as well as the Constitution and applicable laws, the court has unanimously determined that the petitions are not merited,” ruled the Supreme Court.

Justice Maraga said the court would deliver a detailed decision within 21 days.

The ruling paves way for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto to be sworn in for a second term in office on Tuesday, November 28th. Preparations are already underway for the swearing-in ceremony at Kasarani Stadium.

"Washindwapo ndipo Washindapo." Think about it; until you LEARN the Hard Way that: The Blessing you STEAL is the CURSE you ACQUIRE; even to Your DISCENDANTS. No wonder 11 out of 12 Kenyans who Die in Diaspora are of Thieving GEMAns. The CURSE follows them Everywhere They Go. Sad.

Sisi wagikuyu tuko wajinga aje? Malaga was diffusing tesion. Verdict is not yet delivered. What we are celebrating is not a judgement but an implication. Why can't we JP people sit down to understand the law? The excerscise on 26th october did not meet so may requirements. Among them is that 2.6 million people can not represent 19 million registered voters. Let us read the law. The CJ did not make any judgement.

Aish @Guest1. Punguza mauchungu. Itakumaliza. Sio lazima ujibie wale wanasarite wengine. Na uwache kutumia Mungu in vain.

Chebukati: you will go in Kenyan history as the person who cleared hyenas, roaches, lice, bedbugs, rats, porcupines, thieves, rapists, drug users and dealers, thugs, murderers, land grabbers, pedophiles, and criminals pretending to be leaders and made it possible for them to run for an elective public office!

More than a half of the recently elected people should be in prison for committing crimes against humanity. How could you clear drug dealers to run for public office? How much bribe did you receive in order to allow misfits run for an elective public office? You are devoid of conscience and humanity. Shame on you!

I once sang a song as a young girl in Sunday school. It went like..simama, simama Imara jilinde, neno lake bwana Imara, sema kila siku uombe, nitasimama! Welcome back Imara... you really need to stop taking things to heart this much.

Chebukati you did an awful job and Maraga just opted for the easier route either because he was bribed or just grew tired and wanted to move on.However the election was and will remain a sham.Your so called president may have the crown and that is about all he will get. The resistance movement will continue and do not expect co-operation either through coercion or brute force. We from NASA will not back down.

Ilikuwaje Kenya ikafikia kiwango ambacho imo sasa? Tom Mboya alipouawa July 05, 1969 kama Waingereza wanavyosema, "All hell broke loose."

Chebu., though you were scandalized, betrayed, second guessed, pressured and stared failure in the eye, by grace of your Lord you stayed the course and have done your part. Now as the good Word says "Go, eat your bread with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart.." for the world through SC has finally approved what your team has done.
