Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Announces 2022 Presidential Bid

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said he will be in the ballot for the presidential contest in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader noted that his superior development track record will propel him to the State House as President Uhuru's successor in the 2022 poll.

"I'm planning to shock Kenya in the next few years," he said on Wednesday during the 13th annual primary school heads meet in Mombasa, adding: "I will show you what I'm capable of doing."

Mutua trounced former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti to retain his Machakos Governor seat in the August 8th poll, although Wavinya is contesting his victory in court.

Mutua threw his weight behind President Kenyatta's re-election in the cancelled August 8th election and October 26th repeat poll.

Others who have set their eyes on the presidency in 2022 are Deputy President William Ruto, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and former Meru Governor Peter Munya.
