President Uhuru Encourages Kenyans to Sign Up for Health Insurance

President Uhuru has encouraged Kenyans to sign up for National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to allow them get easy access to affordable medical services.

Uhuru says that the with insurance program, Kenyans will not have to struggle with hospital bills when they fall Ill.

“There is no person who knows when they will require medical services. It would be prudent for all citizens to register themselves with the scheme,” says Uhuru.

Uhuru was speaking in Kigumo, Murang’a County on Saturday during the funeral service of the late mama Susan Wairimu Chege, mother to Murang’a Women Rep Sabina Chege.

In his manifesto for second term in office, the president pledged to increase the number of those covered by NHIF from 6.8 million to 13 million Kenyans in the next five years.

"We have expanded NHIF to ensure that as long as any Kenyan has an NHIF card, they can receive health care services not only in Government hospitals but also in mission and private hospitals,” President Kenyatta said.

"Over the next 5 years, my Administration will target 100% Universal Healthcare coverage for all households," he added.
