Jubilee Leaders Respond to Kalonzo's Civil War Threats

Jubilee leaders have hit out at National Super Alliance (Nasa) principal Kalonzo Musyoka over threats that the country will plunge into civil unrest similar to that in South Sudan or Somalia should President Kenyatta refuse to dialogue with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Led by Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju and Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale, the leaders termed Kalonzo's sentiments as reckless and irresponsible.

“The government is in place and we have the President and Deputy President who are legally in office. There is no need to engage them,” Tuju said.

Duale said Jubilee will not succumb to intimidation blackmail by Nasa, noting that the country has moved on after last year's elections.

“Raila and Kalonzo should take their time and read the mood of Kenyans. No one is with them. The country has moved on and Kenyans want to see the Jubilee manifesto rolled out,” Duale said.

“It is sad that he [Kalonzo] wants to be the President of a country in which he is calling for civil war. They should know that Jubilee will not be intimidated or blackmailed.”

Last week, Kalonzo said President Kenyatta has one week to agree to dialogue with Nasa, failure to which the country will perish after Raila's January 30th swearing-in ceremony.

“This country is headed for a civil war and I am telling Uhuru to call Raila in the next one week or things will go bad,” Kalonzo said.

Jubilee MPs Martha Wangari (Gilgil), Nelson Koech (Belgut) and David Pkosing (Pokot South) called on the police and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action against Kalonzo.

“It is unfortunate that the remarks were made by a high ranking leader in this country. Kalonzo saw what happened in 2007/08 and he should not be allowed to cause tension,” Wangari said.

“We know him as a God-fearing man. I think bishops should pray for Kalonzo because the path he is taking is dangerous. He may have been possessed by demons,” MP Pkosing said.

Methink, hon. Kalonzo is wrong on this swearing in topic which is tantamount to blackmailing a sitting president of a legitimate gvmnt. He shld remember his Shuttle Diplomacy.

For the part of Gvmnt, I think it should let these guys swear in peacefuly at whatever venue they chose becoz that is when nasa want to start chaos.
