President Uhuru Kenyatta Scoops Top African Award

President Uhuru Kenyatta has scooped the 2018 African award on transport and road infrastructure.
The Africa Road Builders announced Uhuru the winner of this year's Babacar Ndiaye in recognition of railway, road, air as well as countrywide street lighting projects done by his administration.
Speaking during a ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal on Friday, the President of Media for Infrastructure and Finance in Africa, Adama Wade said the Mombasa–Nairobi standard gauge railway has had immense impact on the country's transport sector since its completion.
“The SGR has reduced costs of travelling between the two cities by half and at the same time taking half of the time for the trip,” he said.
The award will be presented to President Uhuru on May 23rd in Busan, South Korea, during this year's African Development Bank Bank meeting.
“We thank and congratulate the AfDB and its President Dr Akinwumi Adesina for putting the issue of roads and transport high on its agenda through its ‘High 5 to Transform Africa’ programme,” said Wade.
The General Commissionner of Africa Road Builders, Barthélemy Kouame hailed Kenyatta over his efforts in improving transport and infrastructure for economic growth.
“We note the crucial role Kenya is playing as a commercial hub of East and Central Africa and the investment in big infrastructure projects to live up to the status,” he said.
