The court has handed the death sentence to two police officers who have been found guilty of killing three people including a bodyguard attached to a Member of Parliament.
The two, Constables Benjamin Kahindi Changawa and Stanley Okoti, have been sentenced by Justice Stella Mutuku on Wednesday.
Kahindi and Okoti are accused of shooting dead police constable Joseph Obongo and two members of his family - Geoffrey Mogoi and Amos Okenye in Kangemi estate in 2014 on claims that they were robbery suspects.
Constable Obongo was the bodyguard of the then Bomachoge MP Joel Onyancha, who passed away last year.
The three were walking home from an entertainment joint in Kangemi at the time of their killing.
The two police officers had earlier been found culpable by the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA), which recommended they be charged with murder.
“Following the shooting, IPOA launched investigations on October 7, 2014 to unravel the circumstances that led to the deaths, and to establish whether the police officers were justified in the use of their firearms,” said IPOA.
“IPOA concluded investigations and recommended to the DPP, murder charges and on April 27, 2015, the DPP concurred with IPOA’s recommendations.”

wrong case here for death penalty.. maximum should be life sentence..at night from club..police shooting investigation...ai painful to both parties
You're right. And that's why I said "Let's wait and see...."
Where is the face of Kenya in this case-accused and expired victims as per your constitution?I hope both convicts will add that ground in their appeal.
Not supporting what these 2 cops did, but I will say this; the Kenyan justice system seems to work perfectly well to the poor and ordinary Kenyans. Justice taking place, but wait until a high ranking Kenyan is nabbed with hand inside the honeypot...nothing is going to happen..look at Waiguru, Obado, Joho, Maribe, Ruto, name it...
Let's wait and see whether it will be a Kinyonga, a Lethal Injection, or a Court Marshall. Oh maybe just Hot air.
