Bizarre: Chicken Startles 6-Month-Old Baby to Death in Kenya

A Kenyan family is mourning the death of their six-year-old son who died after he was allegedly startled by a chicken.

The baby is reported to have tried to get hold of one of the hen’s chicks before it reacted to defend its young one, according to the boy’s mother Robai Toboko. The hen flew towards the baby who was in his mother’s arms.

“My baby was in my arms trying to hold one of its chicks when the hen attacked him,” Toboko told journalists at her home in Shikokhwe village, Malava, Kakamega County.

She added that after the attack, her son Hagai Bushuru cried for a while before he collapsed. Toboko immediately alerted her neighbors but attempts to resuscitate the baby were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

There were no physical injuries on the baby’s body. The killer chicken was slaughtered and its chicks killed, according to The Standard. Reports indicate villagers will conduct a cleansing ceremony after the bizarre incident.

I read this story, and I don't believe it. The child either had a pre-existing medical condition, or the mother killed him. The Villagers probably believe that the hen did it, because that is what they were told. Only a pathologist, preferably the Chief Government Pathologist, can shed some light on what killed the toddler.

Something does not add up here.Unless the kid's heart was so weak that alittle excitement would wreck it.
Iknow it will take along time to do away with this traditions. As it looks to me the hen and its"babies"were murdered for no reason.SCIENCE is the truth detector that is reliable so far.

A toddler age ranges at about 12 to 36 months: And it begins with "a young child who is just beginning to walk" to "a time of great cognitive, emotional and social development." The word Toddler is derived from "to toddle", which means "to walk unsteadily" or "to move with short unsteady steps while learning to walk."

Western Kenya mythology with their ingokhos! She just wanted an excuse to have the poor hen slaughtered so that they can celebrate the on going festive seasons! Lunjes! Pooh!
