Former LinkedIn Africa Manager Thogori Karago Found Dead at a Nairobi Hotel

Police in Nairobi are investigating the mysterious death of former LinkedIn Africa manager Thogori Chege Karago.

Karago, 33, was discovered dead in her third-floor room at Ibis Styles Hotel in Westlands on January 21st.

Police officers found her body lying motionless when they accessed her room, which was locked from the inside. An ambulance was called to the scene, and Karago was confirmed dead at about 5:00 pm.

Kilimani OCS Muturi Mbogo said the woman did not have any visible physical injuries, with preliminary investigations showing she was suffering from diabetes.

“There are indications she was diabetic, but that is subject to further investigations. For now, we take it to be natural and sudden death,” said Mbogo.

The body of the deceased was moved to the MP Shah Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

Karago was the founder of SpeakEasy, a content creator accelerator and marketplace focused on amplifying the voices of women and children creators.

“She is a highly sought after start-up angel investor, advisor, senior software engineer, and product manager and currently sits on the advisory board of 6 start-ups led by minority founders,” reads a statement on her website www.thogorikarago.com.

Karago previously worked as Senior Software Engineer & Product Manager at LinkedIn and the Head of Research and Development for the African continent. She was responsible for overseeing LinkedIn’s expansion across the African continent, with the goal of providing economic opportunities to every African worker.

Prior to this, Karago was in charge of the monetization team on subscriptions products at LinkedIn, where her team worked on connecting job seekers with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in today’s job market.
