President Ruto: Sudan Generals Should Stop the Nonsense

Kenya President William Ruto on Wednesday asked Sudan's warring generals, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo to "stop the nonsense" that has seen life in Sudan take a dramatic turn for the worse.
The head of state while speaking in South Africa also urged African Union (AU) to explore better ways of addressing conflict in Africa. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the leader of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo the head of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are at the centre of the conflict that has claimed the lives of more than 1000 people and left millions displaced.
"We need to tell those generals to stop the nonsense," President Ruto said while speaking to African lawmakers in South Africa.
The United Nations reports that $3 billion is needed to help Sudan nationals who largely depend on humanitarian aid. The Nation is pessimistic about the possibility of a truce, especially after the generals severally failed to reach a respite. While addressing the Pan-African Parliamentarian Summit, Ruto proclaimed that AU is unable to resolve the conflict due to overreliance on external funding. He added that the continent needs to rethink the conflict resolution wing of the AU.
37% of the AU's budget is funded by member states with the remainder coming from international partners like the European Union and other established countries.
