KCPE, KPSEA Exams Begin Nationwide

With a total of 1.3 million candidates, the KCPE and KPSEA exams commenced on Monday, accompanied by heightened security measures in unstable regions to prevent any disruption.
President William Ruto visited Kikuyu Township Primary School in Kiambu County to mark the beginning of the exams. During his visit, President Ruto emphasized the government's dedication to enhancing the quality and continuity of education. The Ministry of Education assured that all students would be placed in secondary schools at either the national or county level, without any increase in fees.
Additionally, President Ruto assured that the government had allocated sufficient funds in the budget to ensure that no student in Kenya who took their exams this year would have to terminate their education. The Head of State was accompanied by Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, the Governor of Kiambu, Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa'h, and a multitude of local leaders and administrators.
Mr Machogu assured that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure that the exams proceed smoothly, with a multi-agency team overseeing the process. He further stated that all students who take the KCPE exams will transition to Form 1 without any increase in fees. Despite the early morning rain, examination officials in the Coast region persevered and collected the KCPE and KPSEA examinations in 53 containers.
Taita Taveta County Director of Education Khalif Hirey said that the county has not encountered any issues during the national exams. Meanwhile, in Kwale County, County Commissioner Michael Meru explained that a coordination plan has been put in place to ensure successful examinations. Security officials, centre directors, and supervisors are all participating in this multi-agency approach alongside invigilators to actively prevent malpractice such as cheating.
