The 38-year-old Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo was discovered lifeless in her matrimonial home at the upscale Hill View Estate on Thursday, May 9th.
Police report deep cuts on her throat and her body lying amidst a pool of blood on the bed. The investigation now casts suspicion on Sheila's husband Jackson Bambo aged 45. His presence in the house on the night of the alleged murder, coupled with signs of disturbance in the bedroom, have firmly placed him under scrutiny. However, the murder weapon remains unavailable and it is unclear whether Jackson has provided a statement to the police.
Sheila's daughter Linda Okinyi disclosed that she discovered her mother's lifeless body while attempting to serve her lunch on Thursday afternoon. Disturbingly, Jackson had left their home around 1 am on Wednesday in a Mitsubishi Outlander without uttering a word, raising further concerns about his potential involvement. Sheila's body has been transported to the Shalom Community Hospital mortuary where authorities continue their relentless efforts to unravel the motive behind the murder and identify the perpetrator.
A neighbour's testimony offers a glimpse into the couple's relationship, revealing that like any other couple, they experienced their fair share of ups and downs culminating in this heartbreaking tragedy. The investigation today led Athi River detectives to a car park in Nairobi city centre, near Kencom where they traced Jackson's vehicle. According to a parking attendant, the suspect had parked the car around 2:30 am, leaving Sh450 as parking fees in case of his absence and the car keys behind, along with three bags. The vehicle was subsequently tracked using an installed device and towed to Athi River Police Station.
Athi River DCIO boss Wesley Langat has emphasized the determination of the authorities to apprehend the main suspect. Jackson's last phone signal was recorded in Narok at 6:26 am before his phone went offline but the authorities remain confident in their ability to locate him regardless of any attempts to flee. Sheila Odoyo was not only a talented dancer but also the owner of a liquor store in Umoja estate which she managed alongside her husband. Her popularity extended beyond the dance floors, resonating with Ohangla dance clubs across Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
As news of her tragic demise spread, fans took to social media to express their grief, sharing photographs of the couple during happier times.
