In a wave of heartfelt condolences, prominent leaders have expressed their sympathies to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi and his family following the death of his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa, as announced by Speaker Kingi on Sunday night.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula was among the first to offer his condolences. He emphasized Mzee Kingi's enduring legacy, characterized by love, wisdom, and service to both family and community. Wetang'ula fondly recalled a cherished moment from Christmas Day in 2024, when Speaker Kingi and his father enjoyed a joyful dance until sunset.
“I was deeply moved by your recollection of that beautiful Christmas Day in 2024 when you and Mzee danced together until sunset. That moment, now a treasured memory, speaks volumes about the bond you shared—a bond that, even in sorrow, remains unbreakable,” Wetang'ula said.
His tribute not only honours Mzee Kingi as an individual but also reflects the collective sorrow felt by the Parliamentary Service Commission and the National Assembly. Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has also paid tribute to Mzee Kingi, describing him as a respected patriarch and a pillar of strength within his community.
“His legacy of humility, guidance and unwavering commitment to his family and society will forever be remembered,” he said.
In his message, Nassir highlights Mzee Kingi's humility and unwavering dedication to his family and society, marking his death as a significant loss for both his loved ones and the coastal region he served with dignity. He has provided a spiritual reflection, reminding those grieving that "we belong to God, and to Him we return," thus offering a sense of solace through faith.
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama echo similar sentiments, speaking to the profound impact Mzee Kingi had on his community and the lasting bonds he fostered. Mung’aro reassures the Kingi family of their support during this time of grief, while Muthama conveys his prayers, hoping for eternal peace for Mzee Kingi's soul.
