'Ukiombwa Kataa': VIDEO of Kenyan Pastor Lecturing Teens over Early Pregnancies Goes Viral Online

A video of a cleric lecturing teenagers over early pregnancies has gone viral on social media, eliciting mixed reactions from online users.

In the clip, Bishop David Kipsoi of AIC Church advises young girls against being enticed with small gifts and favors in order to sleep with men.

“Wewe msichana, unakua mjinga unadungwa mimba dakika ya mwisho, unaitwa mtumba, unatupwa na yule kijana anajiendea,” he says.

Bishop Kipsoi further tells the girls that they have the power to reject sexual overtures from boys and men approaching them.

“Nani mwenye nguvu? Mwenye kuombwa ama mwenye kuomba, sasa kama wewe msichana ndiye unaombwa, si ukatae.”

“Ningependa kuomba mtoto mschana ya kwamba, uweze kujitunza na utunze sexuality yako na utafika mbali maishani,” the clergyman adds.

A report released last month by the Kenya Health Information System revealed shocking statistics on teen pregnancies in the country.

For instance, about 4,000 girls aged below 19 years were reported pregnant in Machakos County alone between March and May this year.

On Monday, President Uhuru directed the National Crime Research Centre to immediately launch a probe into the rising cases of teen pregnancies and “prepare an advisory to our security agencies on remedial action within 30 days from the date hereof and initiate immediate prosecution of all violators.”

They should go to school.

The Kenyan government just wants to destroy a whole generation.

The Kenyan government is a demonic cult. Anything that destroys Kenyans they support 100%.

Well sound right towards the girls, what about the teenage boys/men who are ombaring' what the advice to them? I made 2 back in that age and I wish those girls had said no now and I wish I knew better but my ego was beyond my control as I thought I was a ladies man. Now I have 28 years old children I have not seen or tended to well enough to feel like a real father and that does not seat well with me given all the missed time. I also messed some 2 girls life who knew what they would have done in life.

Girls have been failed miserably by the society while boys have been raised to not take responsibility of their actions.

@Bmore..except these days hakuna ufafanuaji of mwenye kuomba na mwenye kuombwa. The girls are sometimes in hot pursuit of the boys/men. Bwana, ati nani mwenye nguvu? Ha, ha, ha!

@Sukari,I agree with you.Not too long ago an article in one of the dailies elucidated increasing number of young girls entrapping, and vividly seeking SPONSORS.Now here, nani anaomba?.This is a complex societal problem when -just say no is not enough. These girls know what they are doing, just like their sex partners. Teenage pregnancy is nothing new, except that the stigma is eroding.
If scientists came up with a concoction that kills sexual drive, how many parents would give it to their sexually active kids?Ok how about giving birth control to them?My point being ignoring the issue, and just hoping your son or daughter will not do it does not solve anything.Neither does just say No.Many have tried...
Solution is education ,education education.Yes SCIENCE.

It’s good Bishop to advice our girls but I believe it would be more effective if boys were counseled too. There should be consequences for boys when they impregnate a girl or engage in premarital sex
