Former Meru Governor Peter Munya Joins NASA

Former Meru Governor Peter Munya has jumped ship to join opposition coalition National Super Alliance (Nasa) after suffering defeat to Kiraitu Murungi of Jubilee.
Speaking at a press briefing, Munya said he had decided to back the opposition with his Party of National Unity (PNU) amid fights over party leadership.
Munya said he shifted his allegiance from Jubilee because his election was stolen and handed to his rival Kiraitu. “I cannot support the same people who stole my votes,” he told reporters at the Capital Hill, the Nasa headquarters.
Munya vowed to challenge Murungi’s win at the High Court.
The former Council of Governors chairman did not join President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party, but had declared his support for Uhuru's re-election on August 8 as the leader of PNU.
"I will challenge gubernatorial results of Meru County. IEBC did not mismanage presidential elections only, I will petition gubernatorial elections of Meru County ," he said.
Nasa principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula welcomed Munya to the coalition.
