Kenya Gov't Bans Civil Servants from Traveling Abroad

The State House has cautioned all government officials against making foreign trips.
In a letter by State House Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua, who is also the head of Civil Service, the State House told all Cabinet Secretaries, the Attorney General and Principal Secretaries that they will not be allowed to leave the country without clearance by the President.
“This is to notify you that it has been decided, until further advised otherwise, no government official will travel outside the country without clearance by the president,” Mr Kinyua says in the letter which is also copied to the Director of Immigration Gordon Kihalangwa.
“For avoidance of any doubt, the officials in reference include Cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries and officers in ministries, chief executive officers of parastatals and their officers and Board of Directors of parastatals,” the letter bearing September 13 date adds.
The move is seen as a policy by the government to curb foreign travel by its officers, who must get a nod from the head of Public Service to travel out of the country. It is not clear as to what could have informed the reminder at this time.
The letter, though not addressed to independent and constitutional commissions comes just a month after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commissioner Dr Roselyn Akombe was temporarily denied exit at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport because she had not been cleared by the head of Public Service. She was, however, allowed to travel later.

The same government officials could not attend their swiss meeting rather they went for shopping. These officials are of no benefit being sent abroad for meetings its all about their allowance.

Nyayo days are back with vengeance. For those who were too young to remember, today's declaration is exactly the way dictator Toroitich ran Kenya. We had a short break when "genius" Mwai Kibaki took over. He cancelled this nonsense. Now that he (Toroitich ) is still ruling Kenya indirectly through his "project" Mkora Uhuru, things are back again the way they were during the 24 years of Toroitich's terror regime in Kenya.
You can be young in age but be mentally gone. Why would Uhuru bring back the days when Kenyans, found ways of running away from their mother country secretly instead of worshiping a dictator by singing the dictator's favorite song we all know!

I DREAM OF KENYA AS THE NEW PARADISE OF AFRICA:
@D Mwose, why don't you run for the presidency of Kenya come October 17, and we will all work together to support you. We will work together as KENYANS to make Kenya the most technologically developed and advanced country in Africa, where the word "unemployment" is found only in Kenya's past history books.
We will transform Kenya into a nation where every micro-nation participates and shares Kenya's prosperity and wealth equally. A nation where women and men are treated equally and nursing mothers are given all benefits as they help bring up the next generation that is physically and mentally healthy. A nation where "house servants or slaves" are nonexistent. A new nation where citizens are the happiest and safest in a clean environment devoid of drugs and sexually transmitted diseases.
This is and many more other things is what I think we can working together and transform our new Kenya, NOT ONLY the envy of Africa, but the whole world.
I DREAM OF KENYA AS THE NEW PARADISE OF KENYA!

Continue dreaming instead of getting your hands dirty and going to work. No difference between your dreams and those who spend 90% of their time in church claiming to be more christians than others. Never seen a farm that farmed itself or a freaking cow that fed itself after a day of prayers. I think it's laziness and that's what is happening in Africa.

It maybe or not called for,but what about those who had arraged fir travel before the ban? My relative was turned away at the airport because ge did not have the damn clearance from a PS who is never in the office. Who is going to refund the airfare. There should be some wriggle room especially if the trip was planned prior to the ban. Stupid rule.
