Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has asked Chief Justice David Maraga to come out and defend him from attacks by the Kisii community and opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) for petitioning for his removal from office.
Speaking on Sunday at AIPCA Muthuani in Nyeri Town constituency, Wambugu asked Maraga to come out and shield him from attacks from his community, who are now claiming that the petition he tabled before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) last week against the CJ, was an attack on the Kisii.
"In April, when the CJ told off President Uhuru Kenyatta for suggesting that Kisii's were in government because the Chief Justice is 'one of their son', Maraga was furious at having his position made into a political community issue,".
" I am really hoping that the CJ will come out publicly and defend me from those people saying my petition against him was an attack on the Kisii," Ngunjiri told the congregation.
In his14-page petition presented to the Judicial Service Commission, which he has since withdrawn, Ngunjiri accused the head of the Supreme Court of "gross misconduct", alleging that he has been held captive by a group of NGOs.
Jubilee Party on Thursday distanced itself from the petition as secretary general Raphael Tuju disowned the petition, saying it wasn't discussed by the party.
During a meeting with Mt. Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge on Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta prevailed upon Ngunjiri to withdraw the petition, saying Jubilee Party's focus was the repeat presidential election on October 17th.
Ngunjiri agreed to withdraw the petition but indicated he would pursue ir later.
"I stand by the grievances in the Maraga petition, but due to the political environment, I will not pursue it, for now," he said in a tweet.

@Omera, you must be the "Joseph Goebbels" of the Jubilee Alliance. Joseph Goebbels was the minister of propaganda for Adolph Hitler.
The lady is ready to face anybody defending Maraga. She told me she is ready to give evidence to any tribunal if Maraga will face one.
I hope Ngunjiri keeps his grounds for anther day.I will try to contact him to add another ground whereby Maraga conned a lady(who used to import clothes for the elite customers) two new Italian suits when he was a lawyer in Nakuru. The lady lost hope of being paid after Maraga was appointed judge of High Court then told her on phone that she had nowhere to take him.
