All Eyes On President Uhuru As He Receives Election Amendment Bill

President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed he has received the controversial Election Laws (Amendments) Bill 2017 from Parliament.

Speaking on Friday, the Head of State commended Parliament for doing their job, adding that the rest is on his hands.

“Parliament has now done its duty and passed the legislation. I can confirm that I have received it. It is my duty to consider it, and then sign it,” the President said Friday.

Uhuru was speaking in State House, Nairobi during a meeting with a delegation of people living with disability.

The leaders of Majority in the National Assembly and Senate Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen asked the President to scrutinize it and consider whether to sign it or not.

“As the CEO of the Republic of Kenya, he has to consider what the bill says and the general interest of the Kenyan people,".

“As Parliament we have done our job; and as Jubilee we want him to append his signature without delay. The ball is now in the President’s court,” said Duale.

The National Assembly nodded to the bill on Wednesday and send it to the Senate, which equally passed it on Thursday without making any changes.

The two houses passed the bill even as opposition allied MPs skipped the sessions. The opposition has vowed to challenge the Bill in court if the President signs it, saying it is unconstitutional.

Speaking while on a campaign tour last week, President Uhuru vowed he will not hesitate to sign the bill to law, arguing that it cures most of the anomalies found by the Supreme Court while overturning the August 8th election.

“I have no problem with that law and if Parliament passes (the bills), I will sign, I don’t have any problem with it because it contains contentious issues raised by the opposition,” he said.

A hundred years from now, Uhuru you will be remembered as the person who brought back to Kenya dictatorship. In addition, you will be remembered as the person who shredded the Kenyan Constitution the way your father and his immediate follower did surrounded my sycophants!

Is this the way you would like to be remembered in history books? Think about it! As our Swahili brothers and sisters say, "Aisifuye mvua imemnyia!"

Uhuru, you must sign the bill. Raila in in UK trying to manufacture a coup against you. He should be tried for treason. Quite unfortunate that Moi did not finish him up due to Moi's relationship with his father. We must sign this bill into law to protect Kenyans. The goons and political hooligans demonstrating are being funded by George Soros who is know for overthrowing other governments. We cannot allow this to happen to Kenya.

I just forwarded your postings and IP address to the relevant authorities because based on your comments, you are a threat to our Nation! Contrary to you twisted believe, the majority of us want to cultivate and preach peace, security and stability in our nation at this delicate moment; not incite people and cause chaos based on allegations and delusional gamut of ideology such as yours. # PeaceKenya.

There is a little problem though. First of all you are bluffing. Secondly you can forward all you want. Like matiangi I call it "nonsense". Thirdly, nonsense has no traction. You get my drift...

You attack Sokora like he rejected you at one point. This is very personal and pointless. You are beginning to sound like a woman willing to give herself up by all means but someone says NO WAY, not that hag.Have some respect mwari wa maitu. Raila is not telling you to sell your soul is he?

I thought this bill has been signed by the president. What the heck are we waiting for? Second coming of Jesus? Uhunye can you sign that amendment ASAP, we can't take any more nonsense. This country is bigger than anybody and we must go back to our ordinary life. In any election there is a winner and a loser and its the high time politicians accepted defeat. A president does not bring any food to anyones food. Everyone has to work hard, no shortcuts.

@Anonymous, Imara is a foreigner masquerading as Kenyan in the civil society which is not civil anymore. He snaps sometimes becomes real and wishes ill on Uhuru. He talks of Toroitich all day long and Kenyatta and Oginga. He has also started bringing up Trump in Kenyan issues...very puzzling. As he continues to write his fake fake historical facts we will learn more from this foreigner.

@anonymous: I am concerned about your mental state! Are you an identical twin brother to @Kenjuu? I promise you today that I will not make any further comments about anything you write here.

I don't know what they are teaching in Kenyans schools these days. I have met several young Kenyans with very little information about the true history of Kenya. These are the people that I am focusing my writings.

I wish you the best in life. Au revoir!
