I Expected President Uhuru to Welcome Me with a Red-Carpet at JKIA, a 'Disappointed' Raila Says
National Super Alliance (NASA)leader Raila Odinga says he was disappointed in the manner in which President Uhuru treated him following his return from a 10-day trip to the United States.
Speaking at Upper Hill area in Nairobi after a long day from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport into the city center, the Orange Democratic Movement leader said he expected a VIP treatment from President Uhuru. He said he would have been welcomed by the President himself at JKIA and with a red carpet reception.
“I am disappointed with Uhuru Kenyatta. I expected him to come and welcome me at the airport. But he has sent these boys to teargas me for no reason at all. These are some of the things we are fighting against,” Raila explained.
He continued: "This (police response) is a sign of a crumbling regime. The third liberation is unstoppable."
Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who accompanied Raila alleged that members of an outlawed Mungiki group were used to wreck-havoc on opposition supporters.
“The Police and GSU have been deployed to frustrate us but failed. When we got to Muthurwa Matiang’i (Interior Secretary) sent Mungiki. This is why the government must fall,” said Khalwale.
