Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang Charged with Aiding Raila Commit Treason

Ruaraka MP Tom Joseph Kajwang was on Thursday brought before Ngong Law Courts, where he was charged with being present and agreeing to administer an oath to commit treason, a capital offence, contrary to section 59(a) of the penal code.

A charge sheet tabled before Magistrate Lourine Ogombo indicated that Kajwang administered an oath to National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga, thus aiding him to commit a capital offense of treason.

The alleged offence, the charge sheet stated, was committed at Uhuru Park grounds in Nairobi on January 30th.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP was further charged with a second count of being part of an unlawful assembly without prior notification to the officer commanding the area where the swearing-in happened.

The lawyer was arrested on Wednesday afternoon outside Milimani law courts, a day after he administered the oath on the opposition leader.

The magistrate freed him on Sh50,000 cash bail after spending the night at police cells.

Kenya is becoming really comical. Ati arrest him, charge with capital punishment then release on 50 thou bail?! Peanuts for the likes of this guy. Upuzi not to mention he was not alone in the offence. How come the main culprit Raila is still at large?
