'Opposition Leader' Ekuru Aukot Names 22-Member Shadow Cabinet [List]

Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot on Thursday named a 22-member shadow Cabinet to keep President Kenyatta's administration in check.

Ekuru, who declared himself the official leader of opposition after National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga boycotted the October 26th,2017 repeat presidential election, unveiled a team comprising of nine women and 12 men.

“We are aware that the shadow Cabinet is not anchored in the law but it is common of progressive democracies to contextualise that idea of keeping the State in check. In no way are we undermining the government but we must ensure President Uhuru’s promises are delivered,” he said while unveiling the Cabinet.

Ekuru said he picked the 22 from a list of 130 applications that Thirdway Alliance had received by January 30th.

Regional balance, age, gender balance, competence and the youth are some of the factors considered in picking the final list.

“You will see well educated Kenyans, with a fresh train of thought who meet the criteria on leadership and integrity as set out in Chapter 6 of our Constitution of Kenya, which also requires that those appointed to serve in the public office, must be people with competence and suitability to perform a function as assigned,” Aukot said.

Go Ekuru! A good opportunity to prove yourself as sleeping dogs lie and squander the little poor 'Wanjiku' has. It will be interesting to get to know the shadow cabinet....no familiar, 'thoroughbred' names; which is good for new Kenya.
We badly need a strong opposition!

He forgot to name Ojinga as a Minister without portfolio like Raphael Tuju with some of his important responsibilities as in charge of Promotion of Poverty and stone throwing programs, propaganda, gossip, lying, incitement, murders, conmanship and political prostitution.
