ODM MP Aisha Jumwa Declares Support for Deputy President Ruto's 2022 Presidential Bid
Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has declared that she will support Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Reacting to reports that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party was planning to remove her from the powerful Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) for allegedly declaring support for Ruto, Jumwa said nothing will stop her from backing the candidate of her choice.
There were reports on a section of local media claiming that Minority Leader in the National Assembly Junet Mohammed had written to speaker Justin Muturi notifying him of plans to oust Jumwa from the position.
“Junet, I am ready for you. Mr Man, you can proceed ... I am ready for you. I have no conflict with the party leader Raila Odinga," Jumwa said on Thursday as quoted by the Star.
“I will support Ruto. It’s my right ... nobody can gag me," she said, and added that she was supportive of Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta's handshake for unity and countrywide development.
Jumwa was among ODM MPs from the coast who have declared their support for Ruto's state house bid, a move that has angered the party. ODM had earlier threatened to take disciplinary action against members throwing their weight behind the Deputy President's 2022 bid.
“My stand will not change. I have freedoms as stated in chapter four of the bill of rights. I will support William Samoei Ruto in 2022," Jumwa maintained.
She added: “We are part and parcel of ODM. Everybody knows it. We delivered in ODM and my position in the commission was not a favour. Nobody will be threatened. "

Sijui kwa nini umeona ya kwamba ni muhimu uchukue msimamo huu hasa wakati huu ambapo tunapigana na vita vya hongo, ufisadi, na upokeaji wa rushwa kumwuunga mkono Mheshimiwa Ruto kuongoza nchi ya kenya awamu ijayo.
Ni bora tuanze mapema kufikiria ni nani atakayekuwa rais wa Kenya baada ya viongozi hawa wawili tulio nao kung'atuka na kurudi walikotoka mnamo mwaka wa 2022.
Nakuomba na pia nakusihi uwaombe wakenya wote msamaha kwa kujaribu kumwunga mkono mtu asiyefaa hata kuchunga mbuzi kuwa rais wa Kenya.
