President Kenyatta Holds Meeting with Top US Investors in Washington, DC

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday held successful talks with top American business leaders in Washington, DC.
During the meeting with business executives of leading US companies operating under the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), Kenyatta sought to sell Kenya as an investment destination.
“Kenya is open for business and all we want to do is package our partnership in a way that it is mutually beneficial to you as a private sector and the people of Kenya,” President Kenyatta said during the meeting.
The Head of State witnessed the signing of two agreements that will see two American companies invest $238million worth of projects in Kenya. Other companies also pledged to invest their money in Kenya.
US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and Kipeto Wind Energy Company struck a deal for financing the construction of a 100-megawatt wind power plant south of Nairobi.
Among top US companies represented in the meeting included Amazon, Rock Creek Group, SAAB North America, Credence ID and Corteva Dowdupon.
Others were IBM Research, Apco Worldwide, Rendeavour, Intelsat, NEC Corporation of America, Deere & company, Google and APR energy.
Kenyan delegation accompanying President Kenyatta in the meeting comprised of National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Principal Secretaries Christopher Kiptoo (Trade) and Charles Hinga (Urban planning).
Others present were Majority Leader Aden Duale (National Assembly), his senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen and Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita among others.
Also present at the session were dignitaries and envoys from different countries.
