Murder Suspect Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu Admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital, Set to Undergo Surgery

Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu, the prime suspect in business lady Monica Kimani's murder is reportedly hospitalized at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Irungu was admitted at the hospital on Monday and is scheduled to undergo a surgery on the left side of his chest where he has a self- inflicted gunshot wound, according to Citizen Digital.

A photo of Jowie taking a walk on the hospital's gardens wearing a grey prison uniform has since surfaced on social media. Three police officers are seen watching the murder suspect.

Irungu has been spending time at the Industrial Area Remand Prison after High Court Justice James Wakiaga declined to free him on bail. In his ruling, the judge termed Irungu as a flight risk and also noted that he could intimidate witnesses.

His co-accused, Citizen TV news presenter Jacque Maribe was however released on Sh2 million bail and a surety of similar amount.

He is accused of killing Ms Kimani at her apartment in Nairobi's Kilimani estate on September 20th.
