President Uhuru Tells Off Critics as He Defends Decision to Give Gov't Job to Former Vice President Moody Awori, 91

President Kenyatta has defended himself over the decision to hand a government job to former Vice President Moody Awori.

This comes after social media outrage following the appointment of the 91-year-old former politician as a member of an oversight board to manage the Sports, Art and Social Development Fund.

On Wednesday, Kenyans took to social media to lash out at President Kenyatta, questioning the decision to offer the job to the nonagenarian at the expense of a younger person.

Speaking during a function in Nairobi on Thursday, Kenyatta has defended the decision saying: “I’m being critisised that I am appointing a 91-year-old to look after the Youth Sports Fund. But put yourself in my shoes, ukiona vile watu wanaiba pesa… alafu tupatie kijana, mimi afadhali nikae na huyo mzee achunge hiyo pesa itumike vile inatakikana. ama mnasema aje jameni?”

Awori is part of the seven-member board that is made up Athletics Kenya boss Jackson Tuwei and five Principal Secretaries from the ministries of Education, Arts, Health, Treasury and Sports.

The biggest corruption is giving a senile man a job he cannot be able to do. This is even worse than a doctor employed in a public hospital but clock-in in public hospital work for one hour and then go to his private clinic. Uncle Moody Awori will spend all his time taking a nap. Uncle Moody Awori die with dignity please decline this job.

He will never let us down. Our expectation is that he will show us how out of his depth he is every time he interacts with the public and he is spot on every time.

Bure kabisa. One look at your face shows us what you are good at.

Uhuru I see your point. Hata pastors and priests are crooks.A good percentage of Kenyans are corrupt, very corrupt. For the sake of good public relations and to promote patriotism, ask Uncle Moody to volunteer his services. After all he has enough money to keep him for the rest of his long life. Actually Uhunye you should also be working for free.

Ndugu Rais Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta:

2. Pili, ingekuwa bora kama wafanyi kazi wote serikalini wangeombwa kuchukua kiapo kipya ambacho kitakomesha mambo mengi mabaya yanayoendelea serikalini wakati wafanyi kazi wanapoyapora mali ya umma hadharani bila kuona aibu.

Only a drunk appoints 91 year old!

He should Appoint DEAD people.

The hate towards the youth from this so called Kenya government is too much.

Jubilee must go. They hate young people.

Even if they hate us, we are going nowhere.

We celebrate being young, drunks and old geezers can't stop us.

The youth will run circles around him! Uhuru's insecurities are becoming increasingly obvious! I still feel pissed off and I am sure many qualified candidates feel hard done by!

Wow! what a ride? So all this time about vijana, vijana and kazi kwa vijana was a hoax? sasa kumbe ni Kazi kwa vijana pesa kwa wazee.
The rationale is demoralizing and a disillusion to the young men and women of this country who are hard working, have integrity, educated and patriotic. We the youth of this vibrant nation have really been blindsided by the change of tune from tano tena to 91 tena. The logic will only serve to embolden the corruption cartels while we the youth and leaders of illusion are left with eggs on the face...The young may be stealing because they learnt from their seniors how to steal-they only perfected the art of thievery digitally. I guess a rational national solution need be found to address the corruption menace rather than profiling generations with as to whom is a bigger thief than the other, father or son.

On a second thought. Come to think of it, are these not signs of things to come after the "handshake", "kijana kutangatanga kila mahali" and the " my 2022 pick will shock you"? penye moshi pana moto.

-FYI..Mayor Perillo of Tinton NJ is 94yrs old; very functional and always giving back to the community. Uhuru's right;he knows old and intelligent leaders are mostly interested in good legacy and giving back to the community. This is the same idea applied in papacy election.
-Secondly most young people have shown to be incompetent( as in case of Sonko etc) and their life expectancy has dwindled significantly. Majority of the so called 'youth' need to be mentored a lot since they acquired their 'qualifications' on a silver platter.

Uhuru has no excuse for theft going on since his presidency. He has been compromised reason no one get prosecuted. appointing Awuori is not solving the problem. but who does not steal? police and judges who take bribes are thiefs too. the stolen money is shared among equals. we too don't want maneno mengi. we are fed up

Hayati/Marehemu Edmund Burke alisema:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good "men" (people) to do nothing. (1729-1797)

Anglo-Leasing. Uncle Moody Awori was one of the main beneficiary of Anglo-leasing scandal...... "Even though the new NARC Government came to power with a promise to fight corruption, which some effort was put but completely watered-down by the magnitude of the Anglo-Leasing Scandal. Some corrupt civil servants and cabinet ministers happily inherited graft projects and nurtured them. Former Internal Security Minister Christopher Ndarathi Murungaru and former vice-president Moody Awori were said to have been the biggest beneficiaries of this particular scandal"
