Ivy Wangechi, a 6th-Year Moi University Medicine Student, Hacked to Death by Boyfriend in Broad Daylight
Students of Moi University in Eldoret have taken to the streets to protest the brutal killing of a female student.
Ivy Wangechi, a sixth-year Medicine student, was allegedly hacked to death in broad daylight by a man reported to be her boyfriend.
The man identified as Naftali Kinuthia allegedly lured her out of the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), where she was taking her practicals.
He then pulled an axe out of a sack and hit the deceased on the head before taking out a knife and slitting her throat.
The horrifying incident was witnessed by members of the public outside the hospital's gate, who cornered him and set him on fire as he attempted to flee the crime scene.
The man sustained serious burns and is currently undergoing treatment at the MTRH after he was rescued by police officers.
The Daily Nation reports that the man works for a Nairobi-based gaming company.
Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Zachariah Bitok says investigations into the matter have been launched.
What pushed the man to stage an attack on the trainee is still unclear but reports indicate the two have been dating for long.

The details are scanty,but my guess is that she was planning to break off with him... Many have said it on Mwakilishi," why not just walk away".Now the fellow is battling his own injuries from mob justice.He could have died,and might still die...
Anyway, this appears to be a crime of passion.And as such, nobody seems to know how to"cure" it.Well, My opinion is that some people are temporarily rendered insane with"love", whatever that is.In that state of insanity,they loose grip of reality,and feeling like destroying their object of love instead of losing it.In that state of insanity, there is no rationale.Bad place to be.Like I always say, if you love yourself, dont let someone else control your life.May you Ivy rest in peace .Gone so young and promising,in such a senseless manner.Condolences to the family and fiends.

I do believe the story that her classmate gave/told...That jamaa aliamua kutravel all the way from nai na panga na shoka ju alikuwa anamstalk(that is what her close friends are saying...ati ivy had been complaining about the guy a lot)
