Two Kenyan Prison Wardens Caught on CCTV Hiding Cocaine in Toilet

Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday apprehended two prison wardens for allegedly trafficking drugs.
Constables Boniface Korir and William Chengo were arrested after they were captured on CCTV cameras hiding cocaine in a toilet at Manyani Maximum Security Prison in Voi.
In a statement, DCI said the two warders were also found in possession of unauthorized ammunition.
Their arrest comes days after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i ordered a crackdown on drug trafficking and criminal networks at Coastal region.
On Monday, an Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Lamu County was arrested over allegations of receiving a bribe to free a suspected drug trafficker.
Chief Inspector Shadrack Mumo, an OCS in charge of Kizingitini Police Station, is accused of accepting an Sh50,000 bribe to release a suspect who had been arrested with a drug consignment and a knife at Mtangawanda Jetty in Pate Island.
In Mombasa, 18 people among them Bofu Member of County Assembly (MCA) Ahmed Salama were arrested on Monday in connection with drug trafficking.
Police said five of the 18 suspects were found 42 sachets of heroin, 147 rolls of bhang and Sh608,000 in fake Kenyan currency.
